Baylor, Oklahoma Dominate Day One of NCAA Super Regionals
May 23, 2014

The Baylor and Oklahoma softball teams are within one win of punching tickets to the 2014 Women’s College World Series

The Lady Bears run-ruled Georgia, 9-1, in game one of the NCAA Super Regional round at Jack Turner Stadium. Baylor’s Sarah Smith hit a three-run home run to key a four-run top of the first for Baylor, and Whitney Canion two-hit the Bulldogs in her 30th win of the season.

BU will take on Georgia for game two Saturday at 11 a.m. CT with an if necessary game schedule for 2 p.m. Both contests are slated to be aired live on ESPN. A single victory will send Baylor to the WCWS for a third time.

A rain delay of over two and a half hours didn’t slow down Oklahoma’s momentum as the Sooners topped Tennesse, 8-1, in game one of the Norman Super Regional Friday night, 8-1.

The Sooners need to win once on Saturday to reach the WCWS for the ninth time in school history and fourth-straight year. Game two, in which the Lady Vols will be the home team, is scheduled for 4 p.m. on ESPN. If necessary, game three will take place later that night at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 with OU as the home squad.
