The Baylor and Oklahoma softball teams are within one win of punching tickets to the 2014 Women’s College World Series
The Lady Bears run-ruled Georgia, 9-1, in game one of the NCAA Super Regional round at Jack Turner Stadium. Baylor’s Sarah Smith hit a three-run home run to key a four-run top of the first for Baylor, and Whitney Canion two-hit the Bulldogs in her 30th win of the season.
BU will take on Georgia for game two Saturday at 11 a.m. CT with an if necessary game schedule for 2 p.m. Both contests are slated to be aired live on ESPN. A single victory will send Baylor to the WCWS for a third time.
A rain delay of over two and a half hours didn’t slow down Oklahoma’s momentum as the Sooners topped Tennesse, 8-1, in game one of the Norman Super Regional Friday night, 8-1.The Sooners need to win once on Saturday to reach the WCWS for the ninth time in school history and fourth-straight year. Game two, in which the Lady Vols will be the home team, is scheduled for 4 p.m. on ESPN. If necessary, game three will take place later that night at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 with OU as the home squad.
