OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The dream of defending the national crown got tougher for Oklahoma after opening the 2014 Women’s College World Series with a 6-2 loss to Alabama at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Sooners (50-12) will face elimination Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN2 against Louisiana-Lafayette. Oklahoma’s Shelby Pendley hit a solo shot in the top first to get OU on the board.
BAMA tied it in the second off a single but an errant throw in the fourth inning allowed Erin Miller to retake the lead for the Sooners.
The Tide quickly rolled with a three-run homer in the fourth and never looked back as they posted two more runs in the fifth.After opening round losses by the Lady Bears and Sooners, both teams will get a day of rest before elimination games on Saturday afternoon.
