Ricketts, Dumezich Notch Softball Weekly Honors
RELATED LINKS
Juniors Keilani Ricketts (Oklahoma) and Mel Dumezich (Texas A&M) have tallied Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, for games May 1-7.

Ricketts picks up her first Player of the Week award, giving her 12 total distinctions in her career as she has collected 11 Pitcher of the Week accolades. She becomes the sixth student-athlete in Big 12 history to earn both Player and Pitcher honors, and the fifth to claim both in the same season. Ricketts is the first Oklahoma softball player to reach the feat, joining Brittany Barnhill (Texas), Megan Gibson (Texas A&M), Peaches James (Nebraska), Rhiannon Kliesing (Texas A&M) and Christy McPhail (Kansas) as the only athletes to be recognized in both categories.

Dumezich picks up her fourth Pitcher distinction and second this season (April 17).

Big 12 Player of the Week
Keilani Ricketts, Oklahoma, Jr., San Jose, Calif., LHP
Leading the Sooners to their seventh conference series victory this weekend, Ricketts piloted OU at the plate, hitting at a .714 clip against the No. 8/10 Longhorns. Down 2-0 in Friday's contest, the junior powered a home run in the first OU at bat in the bottom of the sixth to cut the UT lead in half and start the Sooners rally for their comeback win. Ricketts followed up on Saturday, connecting on another home run to spark a six-run third inning. She drove in a season-high five RBI in the 9-3 win, going 2-for-3, adding a double to her home run. The Californian led her squad with 12 total bases on the weekend. The southpaw also picked up her 18th double-digit strikeout game of the season and 55th of her career Friday as she finished the night with 13 strikeouts.

Big 12 Pitcher of the Week
Mel Dumezich, Texas A&M, Jr., Whiting, Ind., RHP
Dumezich was almost perfect from the circle all weekend, going 2-0 and allowing no runs in 11 shutout innings. The Aggie gave up just four Jayhawk hits and did not walk a single batter through the three games. She recorded her fifth shutout of the season Friday against Kansas and now owns five of Texas A&M's six Big 12 shutouts this year. The righty earned her first save of the year and second of her career Saturday against the Jayhawks. She combined for a run-rule, shutout, no-hitter on Sunday with senior Lindsey Sisk, notching three perfect innings. Over the weekend, the Whiting, Ind.-native gave up just four hits and fanned 16 batters.
