Baylor junior Whitney Canion and Oklahoma sophomore Shelby Pendley have been named Big 12 Softball Pitcher and Player of the week for games March 6-11. It is the first weekly award of the season for both student athletes.

Pendley continued her hot streak last weekend as the Sooners went 4-0 with a pair of wins against Northern Colorado and Drake.
Pendley hit. 778 (7-9) while posting an on-base percentage of .857 and a slugging percentage of 2.333. Of her seven hits, four went four home runs and two were doubles. Pendley scored 10 runs, drove in 13 more, drew five walks and did not strike out once.
The weekend started with a pair of three-run home runs for Pendley against Northern Colorado on Friday. She added an RBI double later in the game, finishing 3-3 with a walk, two runs scored and seven RBI, one off her career high. Later on Friday night against Drake, she was 2-3 with two runs scored and a walk, including an RBI double.
In Saturday's rematch against Northern Colorado, Pendley didn't record a hit but walked three times, including one with the bases loaded, and scored three runs. The sophomore recorded her second multi-home run game of the weekend on Saturday against Drake as she was 2-3 with three runs scored and four runs batted in. She hit a two-run home run in the second inning then followed in the next inning with a solo shot.
Since Feb. 23 (nine games), Pendley is hitting .789 (15-19) with a .867 on-base percentage and a 1.684 slugging percentage. She has 13 runs, 14 RBI and 11 walks over that span and has seen her season batting average climb from .262 to .426.
Big 12 Pitcher of the Week
Whitney Canion, Baylor, Jr., LHP, Aledo, Texas
Canion tossed her fourth career no hitter and first in a 7.0 inning game in a 4-0 win Sunday to lead Baylor to a series sweep of Purdue over the weekend. Additionally, the lefty became just the sixth pitcher in Big 12 history to record 1,000 strikeouts in their career. Canion made three appearances and went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a save. She struck out 18 batters in 14 innings, including two complete-game shutouts and allowing opponents to hit just .077 against her.
