For the third-straight year, seven Big 12 women’s golf teams have been selected to compete in the NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals held May 9-11.
Oklahoma leads the league and will host the Central Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman. The Sooners will be the No. 2 seed in a region that also includes No. 7 seed Texas Tech, No. 10 seed Iowa State and No. 15 TCU. The Lady Raiders and Cyclones will each be making their fourth-consecutive regional appearance while TCU makes the field for the 18th-straight year.
Oklahoma State will compete in the NCAA Regionals for the 21st consecutive year as it will be the No. 6 seed at the East Regional, held at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala. The 16th-ranked Cowgirls earned an automatic bid after claiming their eighth Big 12 title last week in Rhodes, Iowa.
Joining OSU in the East Regional is Texas, which will be making its sixth-consecutive regional appearance as the Longhorns earned an at-large berth and will be the No. 8 seed in Auburn.
In the West Regional, Baylor will travel to Stanford, Calif., where they will be the No. 7 seed in a field that includes seven of the top-20 ranked teams in the country.
At each regional, the top-eight team finishers and top-two individuals not playing on qualifying teams will earn bids to compete at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
