Baylor junior linebacker Bryce Hager has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week following his career-high 18-tackle performance vs. Kansas State, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced on Tuesday.

The Austin, Texas, product helped Baylor (5-0, 2-0) earn its first-ever win in Manhattan, Kan., with a 35-25 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday. Hager racked up the second-highest tackle total in the Big 12 this year, along with two tackles for loss and one sack.

The junior linebacker chipped in four tackles and one TFL in the fourth quarter as the BU defense held K-State scoreless to earn the come-from-behind win.

In the game, Hager recorded his eighth career double-digit tackle performance and the second of the season. He ranks third in the Big 12 with 9.6 tackles per game and leads the league with 13.0 tackles per game in conference only games.

In recognition of Hager’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Baylor.

BU is off to a 5-0 start to the season for the first time since 1991 and a 2-0 league start for the first time since 2006. The Bears are ranked No. 12 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. That AP ranking is Baylor’s highest since 1991. The Bears are the Big 12’s top-ranked team in both polls for the first-time ever.

The Bears will be back in action at Floyd Casey Stadium for a Homecoming contest vs. Iowa State on Saturday at 6 p.m. That game will be televised nationally by ESPNU.
