Adam Toth (Baylor) along with Preston Morrison and Tyler Alexander (TCU) have earned Big 12 baseball weekly awards for games played April 28-May 4.

Toth is Baylor’s first Player of the Week winner this season and now has two Big 12 weekly awards in his career after picking up a Newcomer of the Week distinction in 2012.

Morrison earns his second career Pitcher of the Week award after claiming the honor on April 7 of this season. It marks the Horned Frogs’ fourth Pitcher of the Week selection in 2014. Alexander is the Newcomer of the Week. With Morrison and Alexander’s honors this week, TCU hurlers have now collected six weekly awards on the year between the Pitcher and Newcomer categories. TCU has eight weekly awards this season after just one in 2013. The Frogs are the only team to have earned two of the three awards in the same week this season and have done so on three occasions - April 7, April 21 and May 5.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Adam Toth, Baylor, Jr., OF, Coppell, Texas/Coppell
Toth went 11-for-22 (.500) in Baylor’s five games last week with six runs, four RBI, three steals, two walks, one double and one home run for a .682 slugging percentage and .542 on-base percentage. Against Sam Houston State, he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases (his second steal of home of the season) and a run scored. His three hits came in his first three at-bats to add onto his 5-for-5 performance last Sunday vs. Kansas – his 8-for-8 run at the plate tied a Baylor record for consecutive hits (Michael Howard, April 11-14, 2012). Versus Texas A&M Corpus Christi, he was 1-for-5 with an HBP. On Friday against Oklahoma, he had two walks, one steal and a run scored. On Saturday against Oklahoma, he went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and his career-high third home run (fourth career). On Sunday at Oklahoma, Toth was a career-best 5-for-5 for the second time this season and in second time in six games as he also had two RBI, two runs scored and a double. Over his last six games, Toth is 16-for-27 (.593) at the plate.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Preston Morrison, TCU, Jr., RHP, Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson
Morrison tossed his second consecutive complete game shutout last Friday night - his first start of the season in the first game of the series. Despite allowing seven hits in the game, the junior didn’t allow a Wildcat runner to reach third base and never faced more than four batters in an inning. He finished the night with one walk allowed and seven strikeouts. He faced just one jam in the game, that coming in the seventh inning, as the first two hitters reached base. He got a strikeout, a caught stealing and a foul out to get out of the jam. Morrison has not allowed a run in his last 26.2 innings pitched and has surrendered just two runs in his last 48 innings pitched. He leads the Big 12 in ERA and is tied for the league lead in wins with a 7-3 record this year. His three shutouts and four complete games are also first in the league.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Alexander, TCU, Fr., LHP, Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll
In Saturday’s start, Alexander (6-3) gave up a solo home run to Ross Kivett on the second pitch of the game, but that was all he would surrender as he matched his career-high with seven innings pitched. The freshman surrendered just four hits and struck out five, while allowing just five total base runners. Outside of the home run by Kivett, only one runner advanced to second base and none to third. In four of the seven innings he pitched, the Southlake, Texas, product retired the side in order. He faced just three batters over the minimum through seven innings of work.
