Anderson, Banning & Rowley Named Big 12 Assistants For 2013-14

Austin Anderson and Braxton Banning have been named Will Hancock Communications Assistants for the Big 12 Conference, while Riannon Rowley has been chosen as the Digital Media Assistant. The trio will serve in their roles for the 2013-14 academic year.

Anderson joins the Big 12 staff after spending three years working as an undergraduate for K-State Athletics. He assisted the marketing staff with a variety of initiatives during his tenure, while also working with coaches and sports information staff members on selected community and on-campus events. He has volunteered as part of the media coordination team at previous Big 12 men’s basketball and baseball championships and has also served as an event intern at the College World Series. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Kansas State University in May.

Banning comes to the Big 12 from the University of Oklahoma. He was the primary media relations contact for the Sooner women’s tennis program this past season, handling all day-to-day publicity needs for the team. He has contributed in other roles for the OU Athletic Media Relations Office, including various football and basketball responsibilities. Banning has also gained experience with the conference as a volunteer, assisting at two Big 12 Football Media Days and the conference women’s basketball championship. He graduated from Oklahoma in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Rowley has served as a production assistant with Texas Tech Broadcasting Services for more than a year. She has an extensive background in production and behind-the-scenes video operations and has also contributed as part of the game day staff for ESPN at various events. She worked as a co-director for Double T Insider, helping to compile a 30-minute weekly sports show on Rowley also has experience as a still-photographer, contributing images in several ways for the athletics department and the university overall. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media and Communications from Texas Tech University in December.

Anderson, Banning and Rowley will begin work with the Big 12 Conference on July 1.
