Sean Doerre and Cassandra Novy have been named Will Hancock Communications Assistants for the Big 12 Conference, while William Draper has been chosen as the Internet Services Assistant. The trio will serve in their roles for the 2011-12 academic year.
Doerre joins the Big 12 staff after serving as a student assistant in the Baylor Athletic Communications office during the past three years. At BU, he handled day-to-day media coverage for the nationally-ranked men’s tennis team. He also created content for the Bears’ various website portals while also assisting with media coverage for football, basketball and baseball. In May, Doerre earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in film and digital media.
Novy brings a variety of experience to her new position after serving the past year as a member of the Missouri media relations office. She wrote press releases and feature stories for several sports during her time at MU and also assisted with game-day operations. Novy has also worked as a correspondent for KOMU-TV and Aerys Sports and worked in selected roles for the Show-Me State Games. She earned her journalism degree at MU, with an emphasis in broadcast and a minor in Spanish, in May 2010.
Draper comes to the Big 12 after spending time working in the video department at the University of Houston. While at UH, he produced, edited and filmed highlights and interviews for various sports. He also was a producer for home Houston Dynamo soccer games of the MLS. A graduate of Baylor University with a degree in Media Business, Draper was a pitcher on BU’s nationally-recognized baseball team from 2006-09. He earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during that time.
Doerre, Draper & Novy will begin work with the Big 12 Conference in July.
