Big 12 Conference Commissioner Dan Beebe has announced two personnel changes in the league office.  Laura Rasmussen has been named Assistant Director of Communications, while Bret Ayers has been hired as Video Services Manager.  Both will begin their new roles on July 1.

Rasmussen has served for the past year as the Will Hancock Communications Assistant.  During her time with the Big 12 she handled primary communications responsibilities for several sports, including soccer and baseball.  The Albuquerque, N.M.-native came to the Big 12 from the University of New Mexico media relations staff.  At UNM, she was the primary contact for men’s tennis and secondary contact for baseball.  She has also served as a media relations intern for the Albuquerque Isotopes, a minor league baseball club, and the Cape Cod Baseball League.  In her new role with the Conference, Rasmussen will be the primary contact for volleyball and baseball in addition to several other duties as assigned.

Ayers joins the Big 12 office after working as a football video graduate assistant at West Virginia University.   During his time in Morgantown, he coordinated various aspects of day-to-day video technology needs for the Mountaineers.  He created highlight films for several purposes, including coaching duties, clinics, alumni, booster and recruiting events.  Ayers also worked with the Mountaineer Sports Network, performing in-game camera operations.  Prior to his stint at WVU, he was a video graduate assistant at the University of Texas at El Paso.  In addition to the video duties at UTEP, he also operated and maintained a video server responsible for film exchange for football and several other sports.  Ayers is a native of Duncansville, Pa.

“I look forward to the addition of Laura and Bret,” said Commissioner Beebe.  “They join a dynamic staff that is dedicated to the Big 12’s position as the nation’s top intercollegiate athletic conference.”
