Oklahoma Athlete of the Year Nominees

Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 20. Fans who follow the Big 12 Conference on Facebook and twitter will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 20-24. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

This afternoon's featured candidates are Oklahoma's George Alex and Keilani Ricketts.

George Alex; Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Senior; Phoenix, Ariz. ♦  Earned second team All-America honors in the indoor 3,000-meter run and the outdoor 5,000-meter run ♦  Owns the OU school records in the indoor mile, indoor 3,000-meter run and outdoor 5,000-meter run ♦  Won the 2012 indoor 3,000-meter run Big 12 title ♦  Became only the third runner in the 16-year history of the Big to double in the 5,000 and 10,000 at the conference meet ♦  Finished ninth in the 2012 Outdoor NCAA in the 5,000-meter run	Keilani Ricketts; Softball Junior; San Jose, Calif. ♦  One of three finalists for Honda Cup, honoring female student-athlete of the year ♦  Honda Cup for softball ♦  USA Softball National Player of the Year ♦  Big 12 Player of the Year ♦  Led Sooners to Softball College World Series finals
