Big 12 Soccer Weekly Notes Package

Current Release in PDF

The Big 12 has four teams in the top 25 for the second consecutive week. When it accomplished the feat last week, it marked the first time since Aug. 25, 2009 that four Big 12 teams were ranked.

Kansas and Texas Tech are two of the seven remaining teams in the nation without a loss or a tie. The Big 12 and ACC are the only conferences that can boast multiple squads in this group

The Big 12 notched its sixth victory versus a top 25 foe in 2014 when Tech won at No. 10 California. Big 12 squads have six wins and two ties against top 25 opponents this season.

The Red Raiders’ two victories over the weekend improve them to 7-0, the best start to a season in school history. Tech’s win over Cal was its second over a ranked foe this year.

Kansas’ 8-0 start is the longest unbeaten streak in program history. The Jayhawks have kept their opponents off the board for nearly 280 minutes and have played 732 minutes without falling behind in a match.

West Virginia is unbeaten in its last five matches (4-0-1) after tying No. 16 Georgetown and defeating Duquense.

TCU pushed its win streak to four matches after a 3-1 victory over Sam Houston State. The Horned Frogs have three shutouts during the streak.

Iowa State’s Koree Willer had three goals last weekend and now ranks first in the league in five statistical categories. She is the only Big 12 player leading the conference in four or more.

Oklahoma played its third and fourth double-overtime games of the year last weekend. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Fahrner had six saves versus Tulsa, the fifth time this season in which she has had at least five saves.

Oklahoma State posted its first shutout of 2014 in the win over UT-Martin. Junior Allie Stephenson had five points in two games last week, including both goals in the win over Cal Poly.
