Jalen Saunders (Oklahoma), K.J. Morton (Baylor) and Michael Hunnicutt (Oklahoma) were named the season’s final Big 12 Football Players of the Week by a panel of media that cover the Conference. Saunders (offense) was honored for the third time in his career and second week this season. Morton (defense) and Hunnicutt (special teams) were recognized for the first time.
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Jalen Saunders caught the game-winning seven-yard touchdown pass in Oklahoma’s 33-24 win at Oklahoma State. It was his sixth touchdown of the season and the ninth of his OU career. Saunders had seven offensive touches for 88 yards (2-49 rushing, 5-39 receiving). He also scored on a 64-yard punt return in the first quarter, his second punt return touchdown of the season and the third of his career.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
K.J. Morton, Baylor, CB, Sr, Warner Robins, Ga.
K.J. Morton had two interceptions, three tackles and two pass breakups as Baylor clinched its first Big 12 Championship with a 30-10 win over Texas. The senior cornerback now has three interceptions this season and eight in his career. With Morton’s help, the Baylor defense is second in the Big 12 in total defense (344.0) and third in scoring defense (21.2).
Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Michael Hunnicutt, Oklahoma, K, Jr, Richardson, Texas
Kicker Michael Hunnicutt scored his first career touchdown on an eight-yard pass on a fake field goal in the third quarter of Oklahoma’s win at Oklahoma State. He is the first OU kicker to score a touchdown since Tim Duncan on a 10-yard run vs. Texas A&M (11/10/01). With a 21-yard field goal in the second quarter, Hunnicutt set the OU record for most field goals in a season at 22. A 39-yarder added in the fourth quarter gives him 23 field goals this season and 61 in his career, also a school record. Hunnicutt took over first place on the OU all-time kick scoring list and is third on the all-time scoring list with 341 points in his career.
