TCU safety Sam Carter has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Horned Frogs' 48-17 win over SMU.

Carter totaled five tackles, including 1 1/2 for loss with a sack. He also forced a fumble and had two interceptions, including one returned 66 yards for a touchdown.

A junior from Alief, Texas, Carter became the 13th Horned Frog under head coach Gary Patterson with multiple interceptions in a game.

Carter is the fifth TCU player to earn Walter Camp Player of the Week honors since 2004 and the first since quarterback Casey Pachall after a 2011 win at Boise State.
