Morrison Earns First Big 12 Weekly Wrestling Honor of 2014

Oklahoma State's Jon Morrison has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for competition from Dec. 16 through Jan. 5. Morrison picked up his second-consecutive Southern Scuffle title in Las Vegas last week. The conference weekly honor marks the third of Morrison's career as a Cowboy.

Oklahoma State senior Jon Morrison picked up his second-consecutive Southern Scuffle title at 133 pounds on Jan. 2. Morrison earned six wins, including a fall over Bucknell's Grim Gonzalez in the first round and a major decision over Air Force's Carter McElhany in the third round.  The Orland Park, Ill., native also tallied two wins over ranked opponents in No. 13 Joe Roth and No. 16 Mac McGuire. He met up with Penn State’s James Gulibon in the finals, where he produced a 4-0 shutout to win the bracket. 
Morrison entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and the top-ranked 133-pound wrestler, according to Amateur Wrestling News. Following his tourney win, he was named the No. 1 133 pounder by W.I.N. magazine. 
Morrison is 14-0 on the season and touts a 4-0 record over ranked opponents. He has recorded three falls and four major decisions so far this season.
