Oklahoma State’s Gelogaev Tallies Weekly Big 12 Wrestler Recognition

Junior Alan Gelogaev (Oklahoma State) has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for matches from Jan. 16-22. During the week, Gelogaev stayed perfect (18-0) on the season with two victories over top 10 opponents to help the No. 1-ranked Cowboys score wins over Arizona State and Iowa State. It is the first career Big 12 honor for Gelogaev.

Gelogaev, currently ranked No. 3 in the heavyweight division, notched a 6-1 victory over ninth-ranked Levi Cooper (Arizona State). The junior, who missed all of last season due to injury, followed that performance with a 13-1 major decision over No. 10 Matt Gibson (Iowa State).

In his 18 victories, Gelogaev has recorded five major decisions and eight falls for a team best 13 bonus-point wins.
