Oklahoma's Rutt Named November Big 12 Wrestler of the Month

Travis Rutt of Oklahoma has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Month for competition from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1. Rutt earns the first award of his career after starting the season 8-0.

In the Bedlam dual against in-state rival and fifth-ranked Oklahoma State on Sunday, Dec. 1, Rutt claimed the only bonus point victory of the dual via a 12-3 major decision over Blake Rosholt. The extra point at 197 pounds proved to be the difference for fourth-ranked OU as it rallied from a 15-3 deficit to take the dual 16-15. The Sooners won the first match but dropped five straight to the Cowboys before winning the final four of the contest. Rutt’s match was the third of four wins for OU to close out the dual. On the season, Rutt is a perfect 8-0. Five of Rutt’s victories this year have come with bonus points, including two major decisions and three falls.
