For the second-straight week and fourth time this season, Oklahoma has earned both weekly softball awards as senior Keilani Ricketts and sophomore Shelby Pendley were honored as Big 12 Pitcher and Player of the week. Ricketts picks up her second-consecutive award and fifth of the season, while Pendley earns her third award on the year and second in the last three weeks.

Big 12 Player of the Week
Shelby Pendley, Oklahoma, So., INF, Rio Rancho, N.M.
Pendley continued her hot hitting last week as she helped No. 1 Oklahoma to a 4-0 record with a midweek win over North Texas and a sweep of Iowa State. Pendley hit .615 and led the Sooners with eight hits, two doubles, three home runs, 16 RBI and a 1.462 slugging percentage in four games.

In a 12-1 win at North Texas, she went 2-4, scoring two runs and driving in four. In the second inning, she hit a three-run home run to put OU on top 6-0.

Facing Iowa State on Friday, Pendley drove in five runs as OU set a school record with 24 runs in a 24-1 win over the Cyclones. Pendley was 1-2 with two runs scored and five RBI. She hit her first grand slam as a Sooner in the first inning and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the second.

Pendley was 3-4 with 6 RBI in Saturday’s 8-0 win, driving in a run in every at-bat. With no score and two on in the first, Pendley went the opposite way on a 2-2 pitch to clear the fence in left field for a three-run homer. It was her fourth straight game with a home run to tie the school record. In the second inning, she doubled into the gap in right center to score two runs and put Oklahoma on top 5-0. Needing one run to end the game via run-rule, Pendley lined a single off the wall with the bases loaded in the fifth inning to pick up her sixth RBI of the contest.

In her last 12 games, Pendley is hitting .556 (20-36) with a .636 OBP and 1.500 slugging percentage. The sophomore has hit 10 home runs in that span with 31 RBI, 18 runs scored, four doubles, seven walks and two stolen bases.

Big 12 Pitcher of the Week
Keilani Ricketts, Oklahoma, Sr., LHP, San Jose, Calif.
Ricketts recorded two of Oklahoma’s four wins last week, making history in the process. The senior was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA and capped the week with her school-record fourth no-hitter of the year in a win over Iowa State.

The week started with a 12-1, six-inning win at North Texas. Ricketts struck out six in four innings as she walked one and allowed just three hits.

Saturday, Ricketts got the start and pitched the first two innings. She struck out four and walked two before handing things off to freshman Leslie Miller.

Ricketts capped the week with the fifth no-hitter of her career and fourth this season in a 12-0, five-inning win. She struck out 10 and walked two as she improved to 24-1 on the year.
