Big 12 Gymnastics Heads to Morgantown

The 2014 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship is set for Saturday, March 22, at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W. Va. The Sooners, who have claimed six Big 12 titles overall (2004, ’08-’10, ’12-’13), will be looking to earn their second three-peat in seven years. Iowa State has earned two titles (2000, ’06), while West Virginia will be competing for its first league championship win.

Oklahoma comes into the championship ranked No. 3 nationally. West Virginia’s Hope Sloanhoffer will look to give the Mountaineers their first individual championship in the All-Around. The senior leads the Big 12 in the All-Around at No. 25 nationally.

Iowa State’s Camille Santerre-Gervais will look to dethrone OU’s Taylor Spears on the bars as Santerre-Gervais sits at No. 13 in the nation.

Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT with live scoring updates available through Fox Sports Network will provide coverage of the event, which will be aired on a tape-delay at a later date.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for youth and groups of 10 or more can receive a special group rate of $2 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME, or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office. Tickets are free for all Big 12 Conference students with a valid student I.D.

Iowa State will look to Santerre-Gervais and Caitlin Brown to push for a third championship. Brown is ranked second in the conference in the All-Around.

Oklahoma head coach K.J. Kindler brings a squad that earned a conference-best 11 All-Big 12 awards spread among seven student-athletes. Sophomore Haley Scaman led the way with three honors. Taylor Spears and Chayse Capps picked up two awards a piece.

Following the Big 12 Championship, the conference’s three teams will await for the NCAA Regional selections announced on Monday, March 24. The NCAA Championship will be held April 18-20 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
