Matching her career-high floor score and setting season high scores in three events, Burke captured her first all-around title of the season against Southern Utah on Friday. The senior put up a 39.175 all-around mark to lead the Tigers to a 195.525-193.300 team victory. Burke claimed the title in bars after recording a 9.875, and placed second on vault and beam after posting a 9.850 on both apparatuses.
BIG 12 EVENT SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Taylor Spears, Oklahoma, So., Plano, Texas
Spears hit a career-high 9.875 on vault, helping the Sooners claim the vault title by one-tenth of a point (48.950-48.850) over No. 7 Oregon State. The sophomore earned first place honors in the event and also posted season-highs on bars (9.825) and beam (9.875).
BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Updike, Missouri, Fr., Olathe, Kan.
Updike received her second-straight Newcomer of the Week award after placing first on vault and taking second on beam against Southern Utah. She recording a 9.875 on vault Friday, and now ranks 14th in the nation on the apparatus. Updike earned a 9.850 on beam along with a 9.650 on floor to help Mizzou to its second-straight team title this season.
