The Big 12 Conference has announced the 2012 All-Big 12 Gymnastics Team, which includes the top three conference gymnasts with the highest regional qualifying score (RQS) in each event and two all-around competitors. RQS figures are based off the final regular-season GymInfo rankings.
Five gymnasts took all-conference honors in multiple events - Mary Burke (Missouri; all-around, bars), Megan Ferguson (Oklahoma; bars, beam, floor), Brie Olson (Oklahoma; vault, bars), Sara Stone (Oklahoma; vault, beam, floor) and Rachel Updike (Missouri; vault, floor).
Oklahoma led the way with nine selections with Missouri in second with four. Iowa State earned one recognition.
With her three selections this season, Ferguson has claimed a total of 10 all-conference recognitions, having collected honors on bars and beam all four years. The senior has received a floor distinction the past two seasons. Ferguson ranks in the top three nationally of every event she competes in (third on bars, second on beam and first on floor). Sooner teammate Stone has collected vault honors every season of her OU career. She ranks first nationally.
It is the third-straight year Burke has captured an all-conference nod in the all-around and second-consecutive year Browning has earned all-conference recognition in the all-around.
The 2012 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship is set for Saturday, March 24 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
