Robert Saunders has been named Compliance Assistant for the Big 12 Conference, it has been announced. He will serve in his role for the 2013-14 academic year.
Saunders comes to the Big 12 after spending the past two seasons as an Athletics Compliance Assistant at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. He assisted in the overall athletics compliance program for 13 sports, including rules interpretations and staff education, creation of compliance newsletters and preparation and processing of NCAA and conference compliance and governance documentation. Saunders also has compliance experience from nearly two years at Radford University in Virginia, where he also handled assigned duties in the ticket office. He gained additional athletic department experience while a student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
Saunders earned his Master’s in Business Administration in Sport Management from Florida Atlantic in August. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He will begin work at the Conference office on September 9.
