Sooners Snag Share of Big 12 Men's Tennis Title
April 20, 2014

With a 6-1 win over in-state rival Oklahoma State, the Oklahoma Sooners joined Baylor and Texas as tri-champions of the Big 12 regular season tennis title. This season marks the first time in league history that three teams have shared the crown.

The No. 2 Sooners closed out the regular season with five consecutive wins and an overall record of 21-2. OU's only losses came at the hands of nationally ranked UCLA (2-4) at the ITA Team Indoor Championship and against Texas (3-4) on March 26.

This is the second regular season title for the Sooners. OU won the crown outright in 2012.

Baylor clinched a share of the title with a 4-3 win over Texas on Friday. Texas claimed its share of the title when they bested in-state rival Texas Tech 5-1 on Saturday in Lubbock.

The league's six men's tennis squads will meet at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Complex April 24-27 to compete in the 2014 Big 12 Tennis Championships.
