Sixty Big 12 student-athletes have been named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Tennis Team. A total of 24 members make up the men’s team, while 36 women’s student-athletes were recognized.
Baylor combined for 11 total honorees and led in men’s selections with six total, while Oklahoma led the women’s team with seven honorees.
Among those honored, Petra Niedermayerova (Kansas State) and Lina Padegimaite (Texas) were nominated with 4.00 grade point averages along with Oklahoma State’s Trevor Horstmann.
For the men, 18 members comprise the first team, while the second team includes six honorees. On the women’s team, 30 of the 36 selections are first team honorees, with six members making up the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
