Texas shortstop Taylor Thom and Oklahoma pitcher Michelle Gascoigne have been named Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week for games February 12-19. It is the first weekly honor for both student-athletes.

Thom became the fourth player in NCAA history to hit two grand slams in a game when she tallied one in the first and a second in the third inning at Houston on Saturday. She set the Texas single-game record with eight RBI during the contest.
Thom continued the offensive showcase Sunday against DePaul in the final game of the Hilton Houston Plaza Invitational as she went 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. The senior hit two more home runs and added a single and double. She drove in the game-winning run against the Blue Demons with a first-inning single and helped Texas open the season 11-0, the second-longest winning streak to start a campaign in program history.
Over the six games, Thom hit .556 (10-for-18) with a team-best 14 RBI and eight runs. She tallied 25 total bases and slugged 1.389 while posting a .526 on-base percentage. She added five stolen bases, including a career-high three versus DePaul on Friday and played errorless defense in six starts at shortstop.
