Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 19. Fans who follow the Big 12 Conference on Facebook and twitter will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 19-23. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

Today's featured candidates are TCU's Lorraine Ugen and Charles Silmon.

Charles Silmon; Indoor & Outdoor Track
Senior; Waco, Texas

♦  NCAA Champion in the 100-meter dash, tying the all-conditions NCAA Championships record with a wind-aided 9.89 seconds
♦  Finished third in the 100-meter dash at the USA Championships, making the World Championships team in the event
♦  Earned first-team All-America honors outdoors in the 100- and 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay
♦  Indoors, earned First-Team All-America in the 60-meter dash
♦  Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Outstanding Performer of the Year
Lorraine Ugen; Indoor & Outdoor Track
Junior; London, England

♦  2013 NCAA Outdoor long jump champion, recording a career-best jump of 22-2 1/2 feet, a mark that met the World Championships 'A' standard
♦  Along with earning first-team All-America honors in the long jump, earned second-team All-America for the women's 4x100 relay, which she ran the anchor leg of and helped to a ninth place finish
♦  Scored in the 100-meter dash, long jump and 4x100-meter relay at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships
♦  Finished fifth in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships
♦  Finished third in the long jump at the Big 12 Indoor Championships
