USA Today has announced its preseason top 25 as voted on by 32 head coaches of Division I institutions. Kansas checks in at No. 6, Oklahoma State was tabbed at No. 12 and three other league members received votes in the initial poll.

KU has won or shared the last nine Big 12 regular-season championships. The Jayhawks return three starters from last year’s team and tout one of the nation's top recruiting classes.  Andrew Wiggins, projected by many media outlets to be a All-America First Team choice, highlights the group.  Bill Self and the Jayhawks open the season on Nov. 8 when they host Louisiana-Monroe.

Oklahoma State brings back four starters from last year's squad that amassed a 24-9 record, including preseason player of the year Marcus Smart and four top 10 returning scorers in the Big 12. The Cowboys tip off the 2013-14 campaign at home against Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 8.

Also receiving votes in the initial poll are Baylor (102), Kansas State (3) and Iowa State (2).

All but one of the teams in the Big 12 have been ranked in the top 25 since 2009, with eight of the 10 league schools receiving top 25 rankings in the past three seasons.

The USA TODAY Sports Board of Coaches is made up of 32 head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
