Oklahoma's Brittany Borman was added to The Bowerman Women's Watch List, the award's committee announced. The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track and field athletes in the nation.

Borman shattered the record books April 7 at the Sun Angel Classic with her win in the women's javelin throw. She notched an American- and collegiate-leading throw of 194-11 (59.42m) for a new Oklahoma program record, besting the previous mark by more than 10 feet. The senior's toss set a Sun Angel Stadium facility and meet record and is tied for the 15th best throw in the world this year. The mark also ranks the Festus, Mo.-native sixth on the U.S. all-time outdoor list and puts her seventh on the collegiate list.

Borman, making her first career appearance on the watch list, joins teammate Tia Brooks as the only Big 12 representatives on the list. She is one of three throwers to be in the group.

In the award's three-year existence, the Big 12 has claimed two winners and four semifinalists for the men and women. Texas A&M's Jessica Beard is the most recent honoree, claiming the award in 2011.
