Kansas Athlete of the Year Nominees

Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 19. Fans will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 19-21. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award. Today's featured candidates are Kansas' Chelsie Miller and Michael Stigler.

Chelsie Miller
Swimming & Diving
Sophomore; Houston, Texas

♦  Set five school records in addition to a sixth as a member of a relay team
♦  First Jayhawk to clinch an individual Big 12 title in the 400-yard IM
♦  Placed in the top three out of four events at the Big 12 Championships
♦  Named Swimmer of the Meet at the 2014 Big 12 Championships
♦  Clinched All-America status in the 400-yard IM at the 2014 NCAA Championships

Michael Stigler
Track & Field
Junior; Canyon, Texas

♦  Won 9-of-11 400-meter hurdle races in which he competed
♦  Posted four of the 10 fastest times in NCAA Division I in 2014
♦  Won his third-consecutive Big 12 400-meter hurdle title in 2014
♦  Placed second at the NCAA Championships for the second straight year
♦  Earned All-America First Team honors for the second consecutive season
