Matt Frazer (West Virginia), Mark Robinette (Oklahoma State) and Jordan Piché (Kansas) have garnered Big 12 baseball weekly awards for games played April 29-May 5.

Frazer is WVU’s first Big 12 Player of the Week. The Mountaineers have also collected three Pitcher of the Week honors and one Newcomer of the Week award in their inaugural season. Robinette earns Pitcher of the Week honors and Piché collects his third Newcomer of the Week selection this season.

While the newcomer award is only in its third season (established in 2011), Piché is the first player to win three weekly recognitions in that category with only four other players winning on multiple occasions.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Frazer, West Virginia, Jr., DH, Charleston, W. Va./Nitro High
Frazer helped the Mountaineers to a pair of wins last week, including a series victory over No. 11 Oklahoma, that moved WVU into a three-way tie atop the Big 12 standings. The redshirt junior batted .556 (5-for-9) with three runs, four doubles, three RBI and three walks in three of four games. Against Oklahoma, Frazer had a double in each game, including two on Friday evening. He is currently riding a four-game hitting streak.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Mark Robinette, Oklahoma State, Jr., RHP, Tulsa, Okla./NE Texas CC
Robinette tossed a complete game shutout in Sunday’s series clinching game against Texas Tech in Lubbock as he improved to 5-0 on the season. The shutout and complete game marked the firsts of his career, and the nine inning effort bested Robinette’s previous career-long outing of 6.2 innings.

In the 3-0 victory, the junior right-hander tied a career high with seven strikeouts while scattering six hits, all singles. He did not issue a walk in the 131-pitch effort, which marked the highest pitch total by a Cowboy this season. Additionally, no Texas Tech base runner advanced past second base. At one point, Robinette retired eight consecutive Texas Tech hitters, and he set the Red Raiders down in order in the seventh and eighth innings. He continued that trend in the ninth, with the only base runner reaching on a one-out error before he retired the next two to end the game.

Robinette’s complete game was the fourth by an OSU pitcher this season and only the third in a game that spanned nine innings, while the shutout was the third by a Cowboy hurler in 2013.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Piché, Kansas, Jr., RHP, Greely, Colo./Indian Hills CC
National Stopper of the Year candidate Piché pitched in four of Kansas’ five games last week, earning his team-leading sixth win of the season and saved Friday night’s series opening win against Baylor. Piché threw a total of 6.1 innings and added six strikeouts to his season total. The nation’s leader in ERA entering the week, Piché helped Kansas shut out Wichita State Tuesday night before pitching in every contest in KU’s first-ever sweep of Baylor over the weekend. In four outings, Piché was tagged with just one run, raising his miniscule ERA to 0.72 for the year in 24 total appearances. Piché leads the Big 12 in ERA and saves (9), and is second among his conference mates in opponent batting average (.200).
