• Defending national champion Texas earned the No. 1 overall national seed in the 64-team field for the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Longhorns will host first and second round action along with Kansas, which was tabbed with one of the 16 national seeds as well (No. 14). Iowa State and Oklahoma earned at-large spots.

• Overall, the Big 12 has earned 106 bids in 18 years of competition. The Conference is 164-99 in NCAA postseason action, a winning mark of .624, and is 76-23 in the first round. The league has recorded at least ten wins in postseason play in six of the last seven years.

• The Big 12 has had multiple teams advance to regional competition ("Sweet Sixteen") each year since 2006. UT has advanced to the national semifinal field in three of the past four years.

• The league’s four postseason teams are also ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA national poll. Texas is No. 1 for the seventh straight week, while Kansas sits at No. 23. Oklahoma and Iowa State are receiving votes.

• The Longhorns enter the postseason with a 19-match winning streak and have not lost a match since Sept. 13. Their streak includes a perfect 16-0 mark in league play, the first time a team has gone undefeated in Big 12 action since 2004. Head coach Jerritt Elliott won his 200th Big 12 match last Wednesday and is one of only two coaches with 200+ conference wins. UT is 71-27 all-time in the NCAA Championship.

• Kansas, which recorded its highest finish in program history with a second-place spot in the final Big 12 standings, will look to redeem itself in the first round against Wichita State. The Shockers ended KU’s season in 2012 with a second-round win in Lawrence.

• Iowa State will be making its fourth postseason trip to Minneapolis under Christy Johnson-Lynch. ISU is making its eighth straight appearance overall and has advanced to the regional field in five of the past six years.

• The Sooners are making their 10th appearance overall and fifth straight. Oklahoma is 9-9 in postseason play with three trips to the regional field, including one in 2010.

• The 2013 Big 12 postseason awards include: Haley Eckerman, Texas (Player of the Year), Kristen Hahn, Iowa State (Libero of the Year), Erin McNorton, Kansas (Setter of the Year), Chiaka Ogbogu, Texas (Freshman of the Year), and Ray Bechard, Kansas (Coach of the Year).
