Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 19. Fans who follow the Big 12 Conference on Facebook and twitter will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 19-23. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

Today's featured candidates are Iowa State's Betsy Saina and Scott Fernandez.

♦  USTFCCCA Athlete of the Year and All-American after winning the NCAA Championship with a time of 19:27.9
♦  Raced to an NCAA Outdoor title in the 10,000-meter run and took second in the 5,000-meter run
♦  Earned eight All-Big 12 honors
♦  Became the first Cyclone to win three titles in a single Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship
