Big 12 Places Three Teams in Top 15 at NCAA Championships

The Big 12 Conference placed three teams in the top 15 at the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

On the men’s side, Oklahoma State earned a score of 230, finishing third behind Colorado and Northern Arizona. Texas finished at the 14th slot in the tough weather conditions.

The Iowa State women took 13th, followed by West Virginia in 24th.

Defending National Champion Kennedy Kithuka (Texas Tech) placed second completing the 10K in 29:59.1.

The Conference had 10 individuals earn All-America honors for placing in the top 40. Kithuka was the top Big 12 runner, followed by Ryan Dohner (Texas) finishing at 11th. Craig Lutz (Texas) and Thomas Farell (Oklahoma State) took the 15th and 16th spot, respectively. Iowa State’s Mohamed Hrezi finshined in the 26th slot, while Oklahoma State’s Shadrack Kipchirchir rounded out the men’s All-Americans at 31st place.

In the women’s race, Monika Juodeskaite (Oklahoma State) was the top Big 12 runner, placing 23rd in a time of 20:33.3. Big 12 Champion Marielle Hall (Texas) finished 29th followed by a pair of Iowa State runners, Crystal Nelson (32nd) and Bethanie Brown (37th), to round out the league’s All-America runners.
