Fifteen Big 12 Cross Country teams are ranked in the 2014 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason regional poll.
On the men’s side, defending Big 12 Champion Oklahoma State starts 2014 where they left off a year ago: with the No. 1 spot in the Midwest Region. The Midwest Region also features three other Big 12 schools in the top 10, with No. 3 Iowa State, No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 6 Kansas.
Texas begins the 2014 campaign as the No. 2 team in the South Central Region, where they are joined by Baylor at No. 11. Texas Tech checks in at No. 12 in the Mountain Region, where they are the lone Big 12 team.
The women’s side is also highlighted by the Midwest Region, where the Big 12 boasts the top two preseason teams and four teams total in the top 15. Iowa State (No. 1) and Oklahoma State (No. 2) sit atop the region, followed by Kansas (No. 6) and Kansas State (No. 13).
The South Central Region also features Baylor at No. 4, with Texas right behind at No. 5. West Virginia moved up a spot from their 2013 finish to begin this season at No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Texas Tech rounds out the Big 12 teams ranked in the preseason poll, checking in at No. 14 in the Mountain Region.
