Big 12 Places Three Teams In Top 10 at NCAA Championships

The Big 12 Conference placed three teams in the top 10 at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

On the men's side, Oklahoma State earned a score of 139, finishing second behind Wisconsin. Oklahoma followed in sixth, with Texas coming in at 11th and Texas A&M rounding out the league at 18th.

The Iowa State women took seventh, followed by Texas in 26th and Oklahoma State coming in 30th. Georgetown came away with its first team national title.

The Conference had 10 individuals earn All-America honors for placing in the top 40. Henry Lelei (Texas A&M) led Big 12 runners with a ninth place showing, completing the 10K in 29:29.1. Close behind were Oklahoma State's Colby Lowe and German Fernandez, finishing in 10th and 11th, respectively. Bill Kogel (Oklahoma), Tom Farrell (Oklahoma State) and Craig Lutz (Texas) topped off All-American men.

In the women's 6K race, Betsy Saina (Iowa State) was the top Big 12 runner, placing 9th in a time of 19:50.7. Saina's Cyclone teammates Meaghan Nelson and Dani Stack followed in 17th and 30th, respectively. Rose Tanui (Texas Tech) rounded out the league's All-America runners finishing 35th. The Cyclone women earned the most All-America finishers at the race.
