On the men's side, eight league runners were recognized with Oklahoma leading the nation with four honorees. Oklahoma State follows with three apiece. George Alex, Bill Kogel, Jeremy Sudbury and Kevin Williams earned honors for the Sooners, while Fernandez, Shadrack Kiphchirchir and Lowe picked up accolades from Oklahoma State. Kevin Burnett has represented Texas A&M on the list for the past two years.
Six Big 12 women received All-Academic honors, with Iowa State garnering the most for Big 12 teams at three. Long distance runners Morgan Casey, Meaghan Nelson and Dani Stack represent the Cyclones, while Bailey Belvis (Missouri), Jessica Engel (Oklahoma) and Caroline Jepleting (Texas Tech) round out the league's honorees. It is the second-straight honor for Jepleting.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2011.
