Kithuka, Saina Take Home Big 12 Runner of the Week Honors

Texas Tech's Kennedy Kithuka and Iowa State's Betsy Saina have earned Big 12 Runner of the Week honors.It is the second consecutive weekly award for Kithuka and his third of the season. Saina is the first Cyclone to take home the honor this year.

Kithuka remained unbeaten in 2012 by winning his fourth consecutive meet of the season Saturday. The junior placed first overall at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. crossing the line with a time of 28.53.00 in the 10,000-meter race - a full 1:20 ahead of second place. His time on Saturday was the fastest recorded at the Chile Pepper Festival since 2006. Kithuka has now placed first overall at the Texas Tech Open, the Red Raider Open, the Kansas Rim Rock Classic and the Chile Pepper Festival.

Betsy Saina, Iowa State, Sr., Eldoret, Kenya
Saina led the Cyclones to a huge victory in the toughest regular season race in the country at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday in Madison, Wis. The senior placed second in a field of 323 runners from 48 teams. Her effort paced Iowa State as the Cyclones netted 106 team points, well ahead of second-place Stanford. Saina covered the 6,000-meter course in a personal best 19:35, just two seconds behind the winner.
