OUís Maple Earns Fourth Big 12 Wrestler of the Week Honor

Oklahoma junior Kendric Maple has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for a fourth time after improving his season record to 19-0 over the weekend.

In a weekend that saw Oklahoma compete in two duals in a matter of three days, Maple topped his fourth-and fifth-straight ranked opponent with wins over No. 14 Joey Lazor of Northern Iowa and No. 13 Nathan Pennesi of West Virginia. Maple secured a win over Lazor with a 6-3 decision and helped the Sooners defeat West Virginia with a 10-2 major decision over Pennesi. With his victory on Sunday against Pennesi, the junior also reached a milestone with his 90th career win.

On the year, Maple has taken to the mat against eight ranked opponents, none of which have been ranked lower than 14. He holds an 8-0 record against such foes. With his performance in OU's back-to-back duals this past weekend, Maple remains undefeated in 2012-13 with a 19-0 overall record and 9-0 mark in dual competition, including a 3-0 record in Big 12 competition.
