Jordan Niebrugge (Oklahoma State) and Alexandra Kaui (Oklahoma) have been named February’s Big 12 Golfers of the Month. It is Niebrugge’s first monthly honor, while Kaui claims back-to-back monthly awards after earning the January accolade.
Jordan Niebrugge, Oklahoma State, So., Mequon, Wis.
Niebrugge earned his first career victory after closing with a 65 at the Ameri Ari Invitational in Hawaii. He finished at 16-under 200 after opening with scores of 67 and 68. The 65 matched his career-low round. The sophomore’s performance helped the third-ranked Cowboys claim their third consecutive team title as well.
The Mequon, Wis. native posted another top 10 performance at the John Hayt Collegiate to help OSU to its fourth win in a row. The streak marks the fifth time the Cowboys have won four in a row in program history and is tied for sixth on the school’s all-time list. It is also OSU’s longest winning streak since reeling off five victories in a row during the 1994-95 season.
Alexandra Kaui, Oklahoma, Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii
Kaui faced stiff competition at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge as the tournament featured seven top 10 teams and 19 of the top 25 players in the nation. The freshman shot 71-69-75 to finish tied for third.
Kaui was the Sooners’ highest finisher in the event and has finished in the top 20 in all five of her career tournaments.
