First day pairings for the 2014 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship have been set, the Conference announced. Pairings are based on the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin team rankings.
On Friday, April 25 at 8:00 a.m. CT, No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas will tee off on the first hole, while No. 7 TCU No. 8 Kansas and No. 9 Kansas State will follow at 8:50 a.m. CT. Fourth-seeded Baylor will be paired with No. 5 Texas Tech and No. 6 Iowa State and will begin play on the 10th hole starting at 8:00 a.m. CT.
Teams will consist of five golfers and the lowest four scores per round from the designated five-player team will be used. Scoring shall be stroke play.
The pairings for the second round of the first day will remain the same, but will switch starting tees. The second round is scheduled to begin 5 1/2 hours after the first-round tee times. Golfers will play 18 holes on Saturday and 18 more on Sunday to conclude the event.
The 18th annual championship will be held Friday-Saturday, April 25-27, at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. The nine teams will compete at the par-72, 7,473-yard course during the three-day, 72-hole event hosted by TCU. Whispering Pines has played host to the Big 12 Championship four previous times, most recently in 2012.
The awards ceremony will follow Sunday’s final round. The Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship is open to the public.
