May 17, 2014

Four Big 12 men’s golf teams will compete at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship May 23-28 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas all punched tickets to the finals.

Behind a blistering final-round 270 (18-under), the Cyclones locked up their first NCAA Championship berth since 1953 by tying for fourth (849) at the NCAA Columbia Regional in Columbia, Missouri.

With a three-round 860 (+20), the 19th-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team finished third at the NCAA Eugene Regional, securing its fourth straight trip to the NCAA Championships. Individually, three Sooners claimed top-10 finishes, including sophomore Beau Titsworth, junior Michael Gellerman and junior Charlie Saxon.

Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed with a 16-under 272 during the third round of the NCAA Columbia Regional on Saturday to cruise to a five-shot victory at The Club at Old Hawthorne.

OSU’s 33-under total of 831 extended its NCAA-record regional victory total to 10. The win was also the fifth of the season for the Cowboys, the highest total for OSU since an eight-win campaign in 2010-11.

Texas clinched a trip to Hutchinson after narrowly claiming the fifth spot at the NCAA Auburn Regional with a 54-hole total of 20-over-par 884 (293-300-291) at Auburn University Club. Texas squeaked past sixth-place New Mexico (302-295-288=885) by one stroke.

Texas' ticket to the finals marks its eighth-straight (2007-14) appearance in the national championship. It is the second-longest active streak behind UCLA's 12-consecutive appearances (2003-14).

TCU’s Julien Brun claimed the individual title at the NCAA San Antonio Regional at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. Brun claimed his ninth-career title and third of the 2013-14 season by carding an even-par 72 in Saturday's final round to finish at 10-under for the tournament.

The Antibes, France, native becomes the third Horned Frog in program history to earn a berth into the NCAA Championship as an individual. However, Brun will forgo the NCAA Championship to play as an amateur at the 2014 Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club, where he earned an exemption after a victory at the Spirit Invitational in November.
