Kevin Dougherty (Oklahoma State) and Alexandra Kaui (Oklahoma) have been named October’s Big 12 Golfers of the Month. It is Dougherty’s and Kaui’s first monthly honor. Kaui is the first Sooner for the women’s team to take home the honor since October 2010.

Dougherty earned his first career victory at the October 28-29 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. He opened with an 8-under 63, which was one stroke shy of the school’s 18-hole scoring record held by Morgan Hoffmann, Hunter Mahan and Jonathan Moore. He also posted rounds of 68 and 71 and birdied his last hole to finish one stroke clear of the field. His 11-under 202 total helped the Cowboys win their second consecutive event to wrap up the fall. The senior played bogey-free through the first 41 holes of the 54-hole event at Royal Oaks Country Club.
Alexandra Kaui, Oklahoma, Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii
Kaui played in three tournaments and finished tied for 10th, tied for first and second. She shot 75-69-72; 73-75-70 and 68, 73, 65 for a monthly stroke average of 71.1. The team finished tied for second, tied for third and first by 8 strokes at the October 27-29 Alamo Invitational. She shot six-par or better rounds and her first bogey-free round in the first round of the Alamo Invitational. The freshman shot four-under in the first round of the Alamo and seven under in the final round. The third round 65 shot in San Antonio broke a school record of 66 set in the 1994-95 season. She also set a school record 54-hole scoring record in relation to par at -10.
