KU's Naadir Tharpe Understands President's Pick

Ah, yes. Your Humble Correspondent knows it well. The Reverse Jinx. If you want something to happen, want a team to win, you go against the grain, you pick the team to lose. The black arts can be powerful if used for righteous purposes.

At least, that’s what Kansas sophomore guard Naadir Tharpe thinks. Tharpe is a distant cousin of the First Lady - his father's grandmother was the younger sister of Michelle Obama's grandfather. So when President Obama picked his brackets on ESPN and had the Jayhawks losing to Michigan in the Sweet 16, Tharpe believes the commander in chief was pushing the red button labeled “Resverse Jinx.”

"I think he’s doing that on purpose," Tharpe told the Kansas City Star. "He always picks us. I think he’s doing that on purpose. We’ll see."
