Baylor's National Champs Visit White House

Wendell Barnhouse is a nationally-known and respected columnist who has spent over 20 years covering collegiate athletics. He has reported from 24 Final Fours and more than three dozen bowl games and has written about the Big 12 and its schools since the conference's beginning. Barnhouse will be updating the Big 12 Insider on happenings and behind-the-scenes information about the conference.

As the NCAA women's basketball national champions for the 2011-12 season, Baylor made the obligatory trip to the White House to be honored by the Chief Executive. President Barack Obama is a basketball fan who annually fills out his brackets. He picked the Lady Bears to win the title and they didn't disappoint him.

In addition to meeting Obama and visiting the White House Wednesday, there was a heart-warming sidebar to Baylor's visit.
