For the third-straight year and fourth
time in the last five seasons, the TCU Sports Network by IMG College has been
recognized for providing the best live sports play-by-play call in the state of
Texas for 2012, it was announced by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters.
The TCU radio crew, comprised of play-by-play voice Brian Estridge, color
analyst John Denton and sideline reporter Jeff Williams, were honored for their
call of TCU's 20-13 at Texas on Thanksgiving Night. It was TCU's first win in
Austin since 1967.
For the 2011 honors, the trio was cited for their work on TCU's 36-35 win at
Boise State. They also picked up the award for their 2010 call of TCU's 45-10
win over Baylor and 2008 call of a 32-7 Horned Frog win over BYU.
TCU's radio broadcasts originate from flagship station WBAP 820 AM and 96.7 FM.
The TAPB is a non-profit organization comprised of the various Texas radio and
television stations that subscribe to the Associated
Press wire service. The competition is divided by market size. TCU competes
in the major market category of college and professional broadcasts.
The TAPB, in conjunction with similar groups in other states, organize and
conduct contests and present awards for outstanding achievements in the field.
Presented annually at the group's convention, these awards deliver
well-deserved praise from a community of peers.
TCU's trio of Estridge, Denton and Williams will be presented their award at
the TAPB Convention on April 13 at the Headliners Club in Austin.
