KSU, OSU & TAMU Athletes Earn November Big 12 Rider of the Month Honors

Five equestrian student-athletes were recognized with Big 12 Rider of the Month awards for competition during the month of November. In the Equitation over Fences event, Jordan White (Oklahoma State) and Maggie Earle (Texas A&M) were named co-riders of the month, while Larissa Laffey (Kansas State) was honored in the Equitation on the Flat discipline. In Western, Carey Nowacek (Texas A&M) was awarded the Horsemanship rider award for a second straight month, while Katy Krshka (Oklahoma State) claimed the Reining honor.

Equitation Over Fences Riders of the Month
Jordan White, Oklahoma State, Sr., Spring Hill, Fla.
White went 2-1 in equitation on the flat in the month and added another head-to-head victory in Equitation over Fences. The Cowgirl senior also earned MVP honors for her performance against TCU on the flat, and improved to 4-1 on the year.

Maggie Earle, Texas A&M, Sr., Fallbrook, Calif.
Earle was undefeated in the month of November, earning three wins with two coming on the road. She averaged a score of 83.7 and beat her opponent by an average of 19.4 points. The senior began the month with an 8-point win against Oklahoma State (Nov. 5), then topped her opponent at K-State (Nov. 11) by a score of 85-40 and closed out the month with a 79-point ride and a win at Baylor (Nov. 18). Earle leads the Aggie fences riders this year in wins (5) and winning percentage (.833).

Equitation On the Flat Rider of the Month
Larissa Laffey, Kansas State, Jr., Byfield, Mass.
Laffey carded three wins and one match-MVP award in the month of November. The MVP honor came in her 75-60 victory over Maggie Earle of Texas A&M on November 11. She knocked off Oklahoma State's Allison Dooman, 71-70 in Flat action and Jordan White, 82-75 in Fences action on November 19. The junior ended the 2011 fall season on a four match win-streak and was one of only three Wildcat riders to go undefeated in November. Her wins propelled Kansas State's hunter seat team to a 7-5 win and a 12-10 overall victory over fourth-ranked Oklahoma State on November 19.

Horsemanship Rider of the Month
Carey Nowacek, Texas A&M, Jr., San Antonio, Texas
Nowacek stayed perfect on the season with three wins in the month of November, two coming on the road. She averaged a score of 75 on the month. The junior scored a 79 on ride against Oklahoma State (Nov. 5), the highest score of the season among A&M western riders and one of the highest in school history. She picked up a 2.5-point win at Kansas State (Nov. 11) and a 3-point victory at Baylor (Nov. 18). Overall, she is 8-0 on the year and has taken home five MVP awards, both team highs.

Reining Rider of the Month
Katy Krshka, Oklahoma State, Fr., Yukon, Okla.
Krshka went 5-1 in the month, including a perfect 3-0 mark in Reining. The freshman standout earned two MVPs in the discipline, giving her three such honors on the season. She had the team-high score four out of her six performances in November. Krshka improved her overall record to 7-1 on the season.
