Every institution had at least two representatives make the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Division I All-Region teams. A total of 29 league athletes were honored this year.
Oklahoma led the league with eight student-athletes making the list in the Central Region. The Sooners paced the conference with the most first-team selections as they placed four on the Central Region squad. Baylor and Texas had four total athletes make the teams, while Texas Tech tallied three players on the squads. Iowa State (4), Oklahoma State (4), and Kansas (2) placed student-athletes on the Midwest Region team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
The 2014 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 28, via NFCA.org.
