K-State's Varsity Eight Named Big 12 Boat of the Week

For the second time this season, Kansas State's varsity eight has been named the Big 12 Boat of the Week. This week's award is for competition from April 16 through April 22.

K-State's first varisty eight earned SIRA gold for the first time since the 2003-04 season. The boat went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend and won its qualifying heat by over eight seconds. The Wildcats came out on top in a close semifinal, defeating Nova Southeastern by a little over three seconds. K-State would go on to win the Varsity Eight Grand Final by four seconds over Nova Southeastern.

The Wildcats completed the women's collegiate gold medal sweep at the regatta for the first time in program history. The six K-State boats amassed a combined 13-1 overall record during the two-day event. The Cats had five gold medals and one bronze.
