Oklahoma Takes Initial Big 12 Boat of the Month Honors

Oklahoma’s varsity eight boat has been named the Big 12 Boat of the Month for competition during the month of March. The boat was undefeated from March 9-31 and produced wins at both the OU and Texas Invitationals.

This is the first Big 12 Rowing award presented by the league office. Rowing is in its first season as a fully-sponsored league sport, after being sponsored on a limited basis for the past three years.

At the OU Invitational in Oklahoma City, the Sooners downed boats from Kansas, Kansas State, Tulsa and SMU. Following that win, OU recorded a victory over 19th-ranked Texas at the Longhorn Invitational, along with victories over San Diego, SMU and UCF.

The Sooners were named the No. 1 seed at the San Diego Crew Classic, but the crew finished third on Sunday, April 1 in San Diego during the Women’s Collegiate Eight SeaWorld Cal Cup Grand Final against Oregon State, Duke, San Diego, Tulsa and Iowa.
