Knebel's 1.67 career ERA entering the season currently ranks third on the Big 12 career charts. The junior's 28 saves is tied for seventh, which is 13 away from the No. 1 spot held by former UT closer Huston Street. The Longhorn posted a 4-5 record, a 2.08 ERA and nine saves in 74 innings last season. A two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection, Knebel was the Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA Freshman Pitcher of the Year in 2011 along with the NCBWA Stopper of the Year honoree.
League newcomer TCU's Cron is one of nine sophomores to make one of the three All-America teams. Cron batted .338 with 20 run s and 34 RBI in his rookie campaign for the Horned Frogs. Teammate Mitchell struck out 101 batters in 77 innings pitched last season. The junior also posted a 5-3 mark with a 3.74 ERA in 17 games.
King led the Conference in batting average during league contests last season with a .378 mark. He also ranked in the top 10 in the league in seven additional statistical categories for all games, including third in slugging percentage with a .383 clip and fifth in on-base percentage at .338.
Overton posted a 6-3 record in 2012 with a 3.15 ERA in 22 games for OU. He fanned 126 batters in 122.6 innings, which ranked second in the league in both categories.
Knebel, Overton and Mitchell were also have also made appearance on the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America teams.
The 2012 Big 12 baseball season begins on Friday, Feb. 15 with conference play kicking off the weekend of March 15.
